Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur, Hilton Hotel, Dublin, November 6th, 2014
Sean was Chair of this year‚Äôs judging panel for the Leinster Regional ‚Äč Final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Awards. He was joined on the judging panel by the heads of Wexford and Kildare Local Enterprise Offices, Tom Banville and Mary Fitzpatrick. Some 15 outstanding Finalists competed to go through to the National Finals with exciting projects that spanned sectors such as food, technology, software, digital health, manufacturing and design. The Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Richard Bruton T.D., spoke along with Sean at the awards ceremony as did Oisin Geoghan, Head of the Fingal Local Enterprise Office.
Bailieboro Traders Association, Hotel Bailie, Cavan, October 17th, 2014
In an effort to reinvigorate their local community, the Local Traders Association of Bailieboro held a hugely successful Gala Fundraising Diner which was attended by almost 300 guests. Sean was the guest speaker at this event which will help raise funds to provide street lighting in the town for the Christmas Season.
Fingal Enterprise Awards, Malahide, Dublin, October 9th 2014
Sean delivered the keynote address, “How Success Leaves Clues” at this year’s Fingal Enterprise Awards ceremony. Drawing on his own business experience and from the many interviews Sean does with leading Irish entrepreneurs, Sean spoke about the vital role entrepreneurs play in creating jobs in their communities. ¬†He also spoke about how many businesses have faced serious challenges in recent years and how some have succeeded in responding positively to these challenges, taken hard decisions and are¬†now reaping the rewards. At MedTec Ireland, Chaired by Brian O Neill, Manager of Life Sciences at Enterprise Ireland, Sean addressed the conference attendees about sources of funding for start-ups in the Medtec sector. ¬†Sean also outlined what investors were looking for when assessing funding requests from sources that include Seed Capital Funds, Enterprise Ireland, Business Angel Investment Networks and private high net worth investors.
The National Transport Leaders Conference, Santry, Dublin, September 25th, 2014
Sean delivered a keynote and also chaired this year’s¬†National Transport Leaders Conference on behalf of the Freight Transport Association. ¬†A wide range of engaging speakers covered topics such as legal, financial, employment and taxation issues relevant to the transport sector. ¬†The event included speakers such as Moyagh Murdock (CEO of the Road Safety Authority) as well as FTA Ireland Chairman, John Coghlan and the organisation’s CEO, Neil McDonnell.
‘Key to Your Future’, Kerry Education & Training Board Fair, Tralee, Co Kerry, 18th September, 2014
Education and Training opportunities were brought together under one roof at the¬†‘Key to the Future’ fair¬†in Kerry. ¬†The audience was comprised of second level students, those who are unemployed and adult learners from the¬†Kerry area. ¬†Sean’s Keynote speech covered topics such as the importance of education and training, developing new skills, starting your own business, building self-confidence and maintaining a positive attitude when seeking to re-enter the workforce.
Launch of New Acorn Life office, Leopardstown, Dublin, August 15th, 2014
Sean¬†officially opened the new Acorn Life South Dublin Regional Office where he was joined by Mark O‚ÄôConnor, the group‚Äôs development manager, and Paddy Byrne, the company‚Äôs CEO. ¬†Sean spoke about the success of this leading Irish-owned, life insurance provider which this year, celebrates its 25th anniversary. ¬†Some of the topics covered were team-work, the importance of networking, customer service and goal-setting. ¬†Acorn Life have over 350 career professionals within the group¬†and¬†assets of over ‚ā¨500 million,¬†with¬†an annual premium income of more than¬†‚ā¨75 million.

Sean addressed the SME Owner’s Seminar organised by Fitzgerald and Partners accountants in the Bluehaven Hotel, Kinsale, Cork.¬† Sean spoke along with Alan Coleman, County Mayor for Cork, and Cormac Fitzgerald, President of CPA Ireland.¬† Sean talked about the important role SMEs play in the national economy as well as in their local communities.¬† He also highlighted stories of successful entrepreneurs whose skill-sets and mind-sets have helped them survive and thrive¬†during¬†the recent downturn.
