3rd Annual National Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference Citywest Hotel, Dublin, January 26th 2016
Sean chaired this conference for the third year in a row. Numbers have now grown considerably with over 2,500 visitors from manufacturing and supply chain firms throughout the country turning up to hear the 100 speakers and view the 160 exhibitions stands. This year‚Äôs programme included such diverse topics as Lean, Supply Chain & Logistics, Labelling & Packaging, R&D, Serialization, Sustainability, 3D printing, Nanotechnology & The Internet of Things. For the first time, there was also a dedicated Jobs & Skills Expo for those looking to work with top Irish and Global manufacturing companies.
Teagasc National Dairy Conference, Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny, 8th December 2015
Organised by Tom O’ Dwyer, Head of Dairy with Teagasc, this annual Dairy Conference was attended by over 500 delegates from across the island. Sean addressed the need for those now running farm enterprises to see farming as a business rather than a lifestyle. He also spoke of the importance of embracing change, developing strategies for their businesses, the potential that comes from harnessing emerging technologies and the need for farm owners and managers to increase their effectiveness by developing enhanced management capacity. Other sessions over the two days focussed on the areas of grassland, breeding and herd fertility, finances, animal health, labour¬†and systems.

Kells Chamber of Commerce, Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Co Meath, 10th November 2015
Organised by Kells Chamber to help stimulate a greater sense of positivity and community engagement in the future of the area, Sean addressed the gathering of local businesses and would-be entrepreneurs. He explained the importance of believing in ourselves and our communities and of working together to create a more dynamic local economy. He praised Kells Chamber for their foresight in organising the event and in bringing key stakeholders together – which was key to affecting change locally.
Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur Final, Conrad Hotel Dublin, 4th November 2015
Sean was Chair of the 2015¬†judging panel for the Leinster Regional ‚ÄčFinal of Ireland‚Äôs Best Young Entrepreneur Awards. He was joined on the judging panel by the heads of Wexford and Wicklow’s¬†Local Enterprise Offices, Tom Banville and Sheelagh Daly. These fledging businesses competed to go through to the National Finals with exciting projects that spanned sectors as diverse as food, technology, software, digital health, manufacturing and design. Sean joined the Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, Richard Bruton, T.D., to outline the importance of such events in fostering a spirit of Entrepreneurship among young people. Others who were in attendance to support the event included CEO and Mayors of the Local County Councils as well as the Head of Fingal Local Enterprise Office, Oisin Geoghan.
Auto Trade Awards, City West Hotel, 17th October 2015
Sean was the Chair & Guest Speaker at the Annual Auto Trade Awards at the City West Hotel. Run in association with the Automotive Publications & hosted by Padraic Deane, this event showcased¬†the best of Irish Companies in the Auto Trade sector. A sign of the times, both visitor and exhibitor numbers where up significantly compared to last year.
Carlow Business Awards, The VISUAL, Carlow, 16th October 2015
Sean was pleased to address the Carlow Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards. Packed with local businesses drawn from all sectors, Sean paid tribute to the organisers of the event as well as all the winners. He spoke about the importance of local entrepreneurs and businesses in terms of creating and sustaining local employment. He explained how important award ceremonies such as this are in recognising and celebrating success and,¬†are¬†important in encouraging businesses to continually strike for improvement in terms of the quality of their products and services.
Motivational Training for Young Entrepreneurs, Theatre Royal, Waterford , October 6th 2015
‚Äč‚ÄčSean addressed over 300 transition year students at the‚Äč ‚ÄčTheatre Royal, ‚Äčin ‚ÄčWaterford‚Äč city, as part of the ‚Äč‚ÄčWaterford ‚Äč‚Äč‚ÄčStudent Enterprise programme ‚Äčduring this year’s Start Up Gathering‚Äč.
‚ÄčIt was a highly interactive morning with students asking lots of interesting questions about entrepreneurship. Sean outlined the skills required to set up and grow a ‚Äčsuccessful business and how important it is to see part time work in your teens as valuable opportunities to build knowledge and skills for the future.

At this conference of over 300 of Irelands top SME’s, Sean and a panel of well know business and sporting figures, shared how they developed their own leadership skills, talked about the role that over coming adversity played in their lives and how others can apply lessons in their own business and personal lives. In particular, Sean shared his views on how we need to change our attitude to failure and see it as a natural part of the process of risk taking, achievement and success.
