Sean is CEO of commercial property firm, Clyde Real Estate, which he co founded in 2014 along with business partner, Colm Piercy.Â Clyde Real Estate is a leading property company which is focused on servicing the accommodation needs ofÂ indigenous Irish companies, large corporates and multinational firms seeking to establish or expand their operations in Ireland. To date, the company has acquired almostÂ 1 million square feet of office and commercial space throughout the country, and continues to work on a pipeline of further acquisitions.
A strong believer in the power of positive stories, Sean writes in the Sunday independent, Irelandâ€™s largest selling newspaper with a readership of almost 1 million people. Each week. he profiles successful entrepreneurs and inspiring role models in business who share with him the lessons they have learned about everything from strategy and innovation, to focus, leadership and resilience. Investor on Dragons Den TV Show (Shark Tank in the US)
In line with his desire to support start-up and emerging businesses, Sean became a popular investor on the hugely successful TV show, Dragon’s Den (Shark Tank in the US). Here, promising entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel of seasoned investors who, as well as offering advice and guidance, invest their own money in exchange for an equity stake in these fledgling business.
This programme has helped create vital role models for other emerging entrepreneurs to follow. The programme too, has been a bit hit among younger people and has helped, in no small way, to educate and inspire young people to consider entrepreneurship as a potentially viable future career option.
Co-founder and CEO of Tech Company Smarthomes
Sean was CEO, for more than a decade, of Irelandâ€™s largest home technology company, Smarthomes, which he co founded with business partner and friend Derek Roddy. The company won a myriad of awards including the; Rising Star Award from Deloitte, Innovator of the Year Award from the Small Firms Association and All Ireland Seedcorn Award, from Intertrade Ireland. Sean successfully exited the business in 2010 which has since gone on to launch another award winning spin out, called Climote, which manufactures disruptive remote home heating controls.
Trainer, Mentor and Advocate for Trade and Investment
With a long-standing commitment to helping support the creation of employment in Ireland, Sean first began training entrepreneurs almost 20 years ago when he worked as A/CEO with the national network of County Enterprise Boards. Since then, he has successfully trained and mentored hundreds of start-up and emerging entrepreneurs. In 2008, Sean was appointed by the Irish Government to the Board of the North / South trade body, Intertrade Ireland, which promotes economic co-operation across the island of Ireland. As an advocate for small business, Sean also served as Chair of the Boardâ€™s Equity Network Initiative where he helped promote Venture Capital and Business Angel Investment in early stage businesses.
